The polymetallic ore deposit, located 17 km northeast of the city of Zhanakorgan in the Kyzylorda region, was discovered in 1963. In 2016 studies were carried out to confirm the existing reserves, according to JORC standards, the deposit contains 3,445,000 tons of zinc and 935,000 tons of lead. The mining and processing plant produce its first products – lead-silver and zinc concentrates – by 2024, and in 2025 it reaches its design capacity – 4 million tons of ore per year. The tender for the procurement of a contractor was held on the EBRD portal. The borrower is an ore mining company holding subsoil use contract for exploration and production of polymetallic ores at Shalkiya deposit in the Kyzylorda region of Kazakhstan.
